Knee Deep

At the end of the day
When I’m brought to face myself
I know that I’ll be looked upon
As nothing but myself
Deep in my derma
Lies the roots
of my gram Erma
Whose roots spreads across oceans
to islands
Got roots that spread to highlands
Indigenous bone
Don’t read me wrong
I’m written
like a fossil imprinted
Shaded hues of me
So my skin is easy tinted
I present the aptitude of me
So I stay lifted
Solitude for my attitudes
Because time is healing
I
Ease my mind with wine
While I
wind down
Wishing to be winded down
Abused the booze cause life was bruised
Construed my truths
Now my pain’s in two
Halves
Mothering these pains
like
Baby calves
I’m steady nurturing together
steady learning how to weather
the truth
Because I
Enslaved myself
and damaged my name
From the root
